Brainstorming with Emily for her early-’90s-TV-themed Halloween costume, I came across Homeboys in Outer Space.
The plot centered around an odd couple-type pairing of two space cargo haulers, Tyberius “Ty” Walker (Flex) and Morris Clay (Bell), who flew around the universe in a winged car in the 23rd century. The duo’s car, which was a cross between a lowrider and an 18 wheeler, was piloted by a talking female computer named Loquatia.
Alas, Homeboys in Outer Space was “panned by critics and cited as promoting racial stereotypes” (and rated 2.3/10 on IMDb) Some of the guest stars on the show’s 21-episode run:
- Gary Coleman
- Erik Estrada
- Little Richard
- George Takei
- Burt Ward (of the 1960s Batman TV show, as “Gerbil.” That is a career trajectory I want to emulate.)

This is the audience McCain and Palin have been appealing to.
Two young men who are believers in “white power” have been arrested and charged in Tennessee in what federal officials described as a plan to assassinate Senator Barack Obama and kill black children at a school.
…
The assassination was to be the culmination of a “killing spree” that would also single out children at an unnamed, predominately black school, federal officials said. The men talked of “killing 88 people and beheading 14 African-Americans,” according to the affidavit.
Anyone who believes that racism will be swept aside on November 4 is living in a fantasy world as detached from reality as Sarah Palin’s.

All that needs to be said:
Did watching the 2nd and 3rd debates give you a feeling of déjà vu? This montage of synced-up footage from all three presidential debates confirms our deep-seated belief that every debate was exactly the same.
