I often hold onto links I intend to blog about, but there are always a few that I don’t get to and are a bit stale.

Most Political Action Committees, or PACs, spend over 60% of the money they raise to party with lobbyists and raise more money.
People don’t mind being unemployed as much if they have unemployed friends (This isn’t surprising–you see it with obesity, too). However, this makes them less likely to look for another job (or attempt to lose weight).
John McIntyre, whom I perpetually confuse with John McEnroe, is back at the Sun: “‘My father,’ she said, looking me up and down, ‘wore a seersucker suit and a boater in the summertime too.’ [Pause.] ‘Of course, he was born in 1898.’”
I just started re-watching Breaking Bad, with hopes of getting caught up before the season ends, so here’s an interview with series creator Vince Gilligan. On main character Walter White: “A guy who would…become a criminal—perhaps has more on his mind than simply making money for his family.”

The “day-ending pile o’ links” post is becoming more common, with Ezra Klein’s Reconciliation (and morning-starter Wonkbook), Matt Yglesias’ Endgame, Andrew Sullivan’s Daily Wrap, Dave Weigel’s Last Call, etc. I do a lot of link-sharing, both here and on Google Reader, so I might as well post more than once a week. However, since this is not a Grown-Up Intellectual Blog, I see no need to give it an appealing name.

In the NYT Magazine, the New York-via-Cincinnati band The National gets profiled:

The National had decided, in the end, to call their record “High Violet,” a phrase inspired by a religious tract Matt discovered in a secondhand Seattle bookshop. “None of it makes any sense,” Matt said, flipping the pages. “It’s all so crazy, but it seems so important.”

Until the 27th, you can stream the album on the NYT site. I highly recommend it.

For Tony, a Wired article about Internet addiction in China. I’ve read a bit about this phenomenon in Korea, and have wondered if it’s a legitimate concern, or if it’s just the fact that 43% of China’s 1.3 billion citizens are under 29–a cohort which outnumbers the entire United States population.

For just about everyone else, the Voltaggio brothers’ website is definitely drool-worthy. They also have a bunch of Youtube videos.
