I wouldn’t be surprised if Pope Palpatine was a Grand Dragon.

In the sidebar along this article about Tony Blair taking on the Catholic Church’s stance on homosexuality, I saw something that was, to put it mildly, scary as all hell.

I guess I’d never thought about where the KKK got the inspiration for their pointy-headed costumes from. It seems too similar to be a coincidence, but I was under the impression the Klan wasn’t too friendly to Catholics. Was that a later development? I’m at work, so I don’t think I should look this up right now.

  1. Klan Scott Says:

The first wave of the KKK was almost exclusively anti-black and anti-carpetbagger. It died out around the turn of the century but was reincarnated in the midwest as a anti-black, anti-carpetbagger, nativist, anti-Catholic, anti-Jew, anti-Communist group.

I still have no idea why they chose white pointy hats and flowing gowns. It’s just silly.
