The 2010 top 20, play count edition.

Last year, in lieu of a traditional “top albums of the year” post, I tried to quantify which albums were most earworm-y, a process that took most of a work day. Luckily for my current employer, Last.fm now tracks play counts by album, which takes most of the effort out of the process1. I haven’t quite decided on a final order, the mostly-accurate list of my most-listened-to albums of 2010 is after the jump: More…

  1. Although as I noted last year, this does bias the list towards albums released early in the year, as well as albums with more tracks.

In morning.

Some not-extremely-cheery reading for your Tuesday morning:

  1. The worsening African AIDS crisis.
  2. Religious extremists are dumb.
  3. So are destroyers of civil rights, Obama possibly included.

Five2 for Friday, May 7 2010.

In order of awesomeness, five new summery albums (Cosmogramma would be fighting for #1, but I don’t really think it counts as “summery”):

  1. The National – High Violet
  2. LCD Soundsystem – This is Happening
  3. Delorean – Subiza
  4. The New Pornographers – Together
  5. The Hold Steady – Heaven is Whenever

Five for Friday, March 19.

Five blogging platforms WordPress is superior to:

  1. Movable Type
  2. Blogger
  3. Tumblr
  4. Livejournal
  5. Xanga

And yes, I’ve had 4/5 of these at one point or another.

Five for Friday, February 26.

I realize I don’t write many unabashedly uplifting posts, so here is a list of five things that made me happy recently:

  1. My friend J-Wy got into MICA, and will be living with me for a few weeks. Sorry if that ruins the surprise for people she hasn’t told yet.
  2. These messenger bags made from life jackets. If I could wear yellow, I would be all about it. I can’t, so I bequeath this to you.
Update: It is €129. So, never mind.
  3. Darkon. Less than five minutes in, there are night/dark elves. Talking in an elf-language. Wearing blackface. And then it gets legitimately touching, and pretty good. Worth watching.
  4. Finally, proof that guinea pigs can code.
  5. Getting paid. Paychecks are tremendous, but direct deposit rules the schools.
