OK Go, “This Too Shall Pass.” In case you haven’t seen it.
School kids covering Phoenix’s “Lisztomania.”
Laura Stevenson and the Cans – “Gathering and Leaping.” Ed turned me on to this band, and I really love them. She has a pretty phenomenal voice, and more bands should use accordions. Their cover of “Wave of Mutilation” is also pretty solid.
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists – “The Mighty Sparrow” (live on Fallon). I didn’t expect to like this album, but I did. Also, the last time I saw Ted Leo, he hit his head with a mic and bled for most of the set.
The National – “Terrible Love.” Ed beat me to this one too, but I’m excited for the new album and upcoming tour.
Octopuses have been observed carrying coconut shells in what researchers claim is the first recorded example of tool use in invertebrates. … Veined octopuses…have been filmed picking up coconut halves from the seabed to use as hiding places when they feel threatened.
Given what we knowabout them, I don’t think this is all that shocking–personally, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that an army of octopi dragged the killer iceberg into the side of the Titanic or formed like Voltron and shot JFK from the grassy knoll.
